Before you plunge
headlong into an advertising campaign using banners
and the like, let us look at the more common pitfalls
associated with this type of campaign.
Common Pitfalls:
1) Target market. It is
imperative your campaign targets the right people. For
example there is no point running a Jelly Bean banner
on a site dedicated to insulin diabetics. Furthermore
there is only a limited return advertising Jelly Beans
on an opticians web pages. However, advertise your
beans on a children's activity website and you may
find a far greater number of click-throughs to your
site. If you are in the sweet/candy business, you know
how important marketing to kids is.
The target market is
almost always an issue when the campaign is run by third
party marketers that run a banner pool.
